Tachypneaismostoftenassociatedwithparenchymalorpleuraldisease,althoughinthecattachypneacanalsobeencounteredwithbronchialdisease.Parenchymaldiseasesthatleadtotachypneaareprimarilypneumoniaandpulmonaryedema.Pneumonia(infectious,aspiration,fungal,orinterstitial)canbeacuteorchronicandinsidiousinonset.Bothpneumoniaandpulmonaryedemaaretypicallyassociatedwithsystemicsignsofillnesssuchaslethargy,anorexia,andweightloss.
